DIY Garage floor coating using polyurea an alternative to epoxy

The final stage of my garage renovation was the floor. I’d been set on commercial grade epoxy then I came across polyurea. I wasn’t sold at first as it was a single component ‘system’, but was meant to be similar to commercial epoxy in terms of quality and wear. It’s also meant to have better UV and chemical resistance. Being a single component system, it had almost unlimited potlife which was appealing. A year or so in now and I haven’t had any issues. • I decided to grind the floor rather than etch as I wanted to give the polyurea the best possible surface to adhere to and there were a number of oil stains that I wanted to get rid of. • 3 coats were put down, with anti skid being added to the last coat. No tint was added as I wanted the ground concrete to show through. Most coatings (if using clear) will darken ground concrete, if you want an idea of how it will look before commiting, wet the concrete as it looks almost the same. • The smell is really intense - even though I taped my doorway to make it airtight the smell still made its way inside. • If you have any questions leave them in the comments section below, thanks for watching! • Timestamps: • 0:00 Before • 0:11 Surface Prep • 2:02 Before v.
