Potatoes again this week. This time its the best home made chips. • #chips #cookingshorts #cooking #homemadechips • Ingredients and method • For 1 person • 1 potato • 1/2 teaspoon of salt • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper • 1/4 teaspoon of cajan seasoning • Rapeseed oil • Start by giving the spuds a good wash so it is dirt free. • Preheat the oven at 200C/400F for a fan oven and 220C/425F for a conventional oven. • Prepare a baking tray by lining it with a baking sheet or parchment paper. • Cut the potatoes into desired sizes, I cut mine to about 1 cm thick. • Add the sliced potatoes to a bowl and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. • Drain and spread the potatoes on a kitchen towel in a single layer, take another kitchen towel and pat the potatoes dry. This stage is important for a crispy result. • Add the potatoes back to a bowl and season with Cajun spice, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper and vegetable oil. Toss to combine making sure the potatoes are well coated. • Spread the seasoned potatoes unto the baking tray in a single layer, place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. • Bring it out of the oven, turn the chips, return it to the oven and cook for additional 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
