Our golden retriever Wrangler wore a cone for two months this summer after getting hot spots on both sides of his face. At first, we didn't know what they were or what caused them. We began to wonder if it all started with him rolling in poison ivy and then scratching excessively. The vet and the internet said it would last about a week or so. That was not the case for our pup. Every time we took the cone off, he would break the wounds open, prolonging the healing process.
