Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) es un periodista de televisión que trabaja en Buffalo, Nueva York, y que cada vez está más insatisfecho con su existencia, y después de un día especialmente malo, se enfurece y maldice a Dios por hacerle la vida imposible.
