The original Ploughboys, 11/10/12 (L to R) Peter Romano (guitar vocal), Jas Hilsdon (composer, guitar vocal), Mark Romano (accordion vocal) reunite at Brian Patterson's 'Second Saturday'. • Terra Nova is Latin for 'New land'. Following are notes by Jas Hilsdon: • I first played this for Peter, then later, at Peter's urging, for Mark. They both wanted to learn it and do it. I am very grateful that they took to it so readily and wanted to add it to our repertoire. Because of them, and the additional encouragement of our regular crowd of fans, it became one of my signature songs. Unfortunately, it never got recorded back then. Our bad. • Years later at a rare, rather unlikely, reunion of the original Ploughboys in North Hollywood, CA., (Mark, Me Peter), someone in the audience had the unexpected foresight to be recording this, the single LIVE version featuring all three of us. That someone was Ruth Elliott, destined to later become my wife and lifelong companion. Thank God for Ruth and her video camera. Thank God for Peter and Mark showing up that night. It was not arranged so much as it - just happened. • TERRA NOVA SHORE: • O THEY CALL THE SEA A MISTRESS • BUT THE TRUTH IS_ LIKE AS NOT • SHE'LL DO YOU IN WITH MISCHIEF • WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT • (Cho.)
