This is a review of the Remarkable 2 after 8 months. I will share with you things that I don't like about it. • Check out Maono for Podcasting here: https://www.maono.com/discount/JIMBOS... • Check out my gear and the things I use here --- https://kit.co/JimboSuson • 00:00 • I love the Remarkable 2 especially with the new update that came out a few months ago. But I still have a few issues with the remarkable 2. 3 issues to be exact and sharing with you this info is the main reason for this video. So let’s get to it. • I did mention that the Remarkable 2 just had a major update and it has made it better, but I do still think that the software, or to be precise the operating system - Codex. Codex for what it is made for is actually very good. The closest ones I can compare to codex are the iPad OS and Android OS for tablets. I understand that this may not be a true orange to orange comparison but since we use the iPad and galaxy daily, it is the closest. • 1. 02:35 The speed at which the OS Codex runs is slower than the speed at which the other OS run. And to think that Codex has specifically only two major things to operate, while the others have tons. My theory is that since the Remarkable 2 can in sense do two things only, to develop the Codex to run faster is not just that important. But my take on it is this since the Codex is only doing two things (writing and reading), shouldn’t the codex be doing them a lot faster? • 2. 03:29 The second gripe I have is the fact that the Remarkable 2 has no backlight. This means I need an outside light source to illuminate my Remarkable 2. I must be in a place where there are bright lights. This is annoying if you are to read something using the Remarkable 2, you cannot turn the lights off in your room. I like to read while relaxing on my bed and with the iPad or the galaxy I can turn the lights off. This may sound petty, but I like working and reading in the dark. And if you are the same as me, then the Remarkable 2 is useless in the dark. I guess much like a pen and a paper. • 3 04:02 The last one is basically the price. I understand why they have priced the Remarkable 2 at that range. They are not selling it as a luxury item but as something that adds value to our lives. And the value is quite remarkable (pun intended). And I think pricing an item based on how it gives value and changes the way we do things is a great business tactic. But I just feel like the price point at that time was too high. • I’m glad that they have lowered the price quite a lot for the Remarkable 2 if you subscribe to their monthly service called Connect. Connect allows you to maximize the potential of the Remarkable 2. You can still have purchase a Remarkable 2 without subscribing to Connect. The price would be $399. This will allow you to use the basic things the Remarkable 2 can do, like writing and reading. • The early supporters of the Remarkable 2 receive the Connect as a thank you for the initial purchase of Remarkable 2. • Though I paid a hefty price for my Remarkable 2 and the accessories, I’m happy that we have been given free access to the Connect program. So, I guess that even things out. • Regarding the Connect I just found out about it while doing a bit of research for this video. I don’t want to go any further as I have not yet researched it further. • ******************************************************* • Hello, everyone.
