Luck and a chain of events events lead us to being at the right place and the right time. We had seen a massive herd of buffalo in the valley below, so we decided to take a drive in Ngulube Loop to see the herd that were walking up out of the valley. We intercepted the buffalo in Ngulube and had to wait for about 30 minutes for them to pass in front of our car because it was a big herd and many of them had calves. About 200meters further on the very top of the plateau, Brad, my husband stopped to scan the hill across the valley, something he always does and he spotted the three cheetah. We were fortunate to have witnessed a cheetah kill in Mountain Zebra Park a few months before and picked up they were displaying the same tactics. Within seconds they sprang into action and chased the young zebra foal and brought it down in the bushes, unfortunately we couldn’t see what happened next.
