This week we're looking at Royer Labs and the R-121 ribbon microphone. We'll take a dive into the history of David Royer and Royer labs (and briefly touch on Mojave Audio as well). The focus of this video is the R121 on electric guitar. Although it can be used on number of sources, our R121 pretty much lives in front of our guitar cabs. We'll be doing a deep dive into positioning the mic and giving a lot of examples of how it sounds in different places on the cabinet with the help of our @DynaMount X1R! We're also looking at our old friend impedance again, as proper impedance is KEY to getting this mic to sound its best.
