IASSK initiated the discussion by a power point presentation and after the open house discussion Sh Sunil Raina Rajanka proposed a vote of thanx. • ======= • WHY WHAT - IASSK has initiated a three-part webinar series on three revered Stris (don't translate Stri as women or Aurat - use of these two words prohibited on this platform) of Bharat - *Shri Lalleshawari Devi of Kashmir, Shri Akka Mahaa Devi of Karnataka The Mother (Shri Mirra Alfassa) of Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry*. This is the first webinar in the series to pay obeisance to the consciousness manifested in these three Divya-Stris. • Lalleshwari Devi, also known as Laal Ded or Lalla, is a revered Kashmiri mystic, poetess, and saint who lived during the 14th century (1320-1392 CE) who was a prominent figure in Kashmiri Shaivism and is considered one of the most important Stri-Saints in Bhaartiya history. Her life and teachings were indeed influenced by the tumultuous period in which she lived, marked by the invasion of Kashmir by Muslim rulers their atrocities, particularly Sikandar Butshikan (also known as Sikandar Shah Miri), who introduced Islamic rule and persecuted Hindus and Buddhists. Her poetry and teachings reflect her spiritual quest, social critique, and philosophical insights, which can be interpreted as a protest against the atrocities and social injustices of her time. Here are some key aspects of her life and teachings which we must know :- • 1.Spiritual and Philosophical Significance - a) Laal Ded's teachings emphasized the unity of existence, encouraging people to look beyond religious and social divisions. • b) She advocated for inner spiritual growth and self-realization. c) Her poetry explored themes of love, devotion, and the search for truth. • 2.Cultural Impact - a) Laal Ded's legacy has inspired countless artists, writers, and thinkers across generations. b) Her poetry continues to be celebrated for its literary and spiritual merit. • 3.Social Relevance - a) Laal Ded's teachings promoted social cohesion and challenged dogmatic thinking. b) Her emphasis on spiritual unity and human equality resonated with people across different faiths. c) Laal Ded's remarkable life and teachings continue to inspire people today, transcending cultural and religious boundaries. • Her legacy serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of spiritual growth, social justice, and human unity. • So, it is high time that we should learn more about revered Laal Ded's teachings or her impact on Kashmiri culture during Islamic atrocities? • Regards • Ashutosh Angiras
