How do HD, Full HD, UHD and 4k compare? • In recent years if you've been shopping for a tv you've likely seen retailers promoting things like ultra high definition and new 4k technology! Similar if you were shopping for a tv 15 years ago you'd see advertises boating of High definition or Full HD. • What is the difference between these and are they worth the upgrade? • The terms HD, full HD, UHD and 4k all refer to the resolution of the tv. The picture on a tv is made up of tiny individual dots all combining together to display an image, these dots are known as pixels. If you move your eyes close enough to a screen such as the one you're watching this video on you will see the individual dots or pixels. The amount of pixels or dots on a screen determines the resolution of the image on screen. • The higher the amount of pixels on screen the sharper an image will be ad therefor the better the image looks in most cases. the terms we've spoken about refer to the amount of pixels on screen. • HD or high definition has 1280 pixels on a horizontal line from left to right and 720 pixels on a vertical line from top to bottom • Full HD also known as 1080p has 1920 pixels in a horizontal line and 1080 in a vertical line • Ultra High definition screens have 3840 horizontal pixels and 2160 pixels in a vertical line. • 4k screens have 4096 pixels in a horizontal line and 2160. • Remember the higher the amount of pixels on screen the sharper the image will appear. So while retailers are correct in telling you an ultra hd tv will have a better quality image than a HD tv this depends on a lot variables. The distance you view the screen from is a key facto. Viewing a 4k 55inch screen from 20 feet will not look noticeably different to 55 inch HD tv as you are 2 far away for your eyes to notice the change in pixel amount and image sharpness. However if you view a 55inch ultra hd tv from 6 feet away compared with a hd tv there will be noticeable difference. As we can see in this graph a 60 inch tv is not worth going for the UHD option if you're sitting further than 8 feet away from it as your eyes wont physically be able to see the difference in pixels. • Of course there are more things than pixel count and resolution that go into making a good image on screen but hopefully these video has made it a but clearer what these terms actually mean. • Thanks for watching please consider liking and subscribing if you found this video useful. • #4k #hd #4kvshd
