Idiots Guide NAS Plex Home Media Server Setup

The only plain English guide that shows every step; from plugging the hard drives in, to watching a movie, all in under 6 minutes! Watching your Movie TV collection on Plex just got way easier. • This video is sponsored by Plex/Synology, all opinions are my own. • I've used a Synology DS418play for this tutorial and although you can use your own Hard drives just be aware that the NAS immediately wipes them clean as part of the setup process!! You can either transfer all your files to a spare disk and then transfer the files back across afterwards, or you can buy new drives specifically for the job. This is a pain in the butt, but it's entirely necessary so that Synology can format the disks in such a way that it can backup data across all the drives going forwards. • Please also bear in mind that if you aren't using the Synology NAS that I'm recommending you'll need to check your NAS can transcode for the device you intend to stream to.
