With Chinese New Year just around the corner, give this all-time favourite a whirl — Char Siew. • Shop ingredients: http://bit.ly/freshbyhonestbee • INGREDIENTS (Serves 3 to 4) • Honey – 2 tbsp • Low sodium soya sauce – 1 tbsp • Garlic clove, grated – 3 • Dark soya sauce – 1 tbsp • 5 spice powder – 0.5 tsp • Rice wine – 1 tbsp • Fermented bean curd – 1 cube • Sesame oil – 1 tsp • Hoisin – ½ tbsp • Pork, shoulder – 400 g • STEPS • 1) Mix all the ingredients except pork, in a bowl, to form the marinade. • 2) Perforate surface of pork evenly and gently using a fork. • 3) Place pork and pour marinade into a zip lock bag – ensure sauce is well distributed. • 4) Refrigerate overnight. • 5) Place pork on grilling rack, pour remaining marinade into a bowl. • 6) Place pork in oven at 180°C for 15 minutes. • 7) Take pork out and baste its complete surface with marinade, using cooking brush. • 8) Place pork in oven at 200°C for 15 minutes. • 9) Repeat step 7. • 10) Lastly, place pork in oven at 240°C for another 8 to 10 minutes. • Time • Preparation of marinade: 5 – 10 mins • Marinating process: Overnight • Oven total: 38 – 40 mins
