When I look at a Daido Moriyama image, I smell something. • Daido Moriyama is a famous Japanese photographer known for his grainy, high-contrast, black-and-white street photos that were considered provocative back in the 60s. He is regarded as a legend in the world of street photography for not only introducing a visual style that went against tradition, but also for his erotic expressions of everyday city life and sheer volume of work. He has continually shot for 50+ years and continues to shoot today in his 80s. • In this video, I explain what lessons we can take away from Daido’s process and attitudes on street photography. • Share your thoughts in the comments below about Daido, photography in general, or whether or not you liked this video.👇 • Subscribe to me: • / @matthewchiang • Link to my work: • / phattyphresh • Link to the book: • https://amzn.com/1786274248 • Video credits: • Artist Daido Moriyama – In Pictures | Tate • Daido Moriyama on the essence of photography
