Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer has remixed the Moscoman track ‘Turning Tides’, taken from Moscoman’s latest album Time Slips Away: http://moshimoshi.plctrmm.to/TT • With the rework announcing itself with forceful kick drums and driving synths. Michael Mayer harnesses an 80s synth-pop vibe on his remix of ‘Turning Tides’, delivering a colder, stripped-back version that places a greater emphasis on the delicate vocals of Vanity Fairy. • These vocals on Turning Tides jumped right into my face on first listen. Michael Mayer explains. They radiated this particular kind of disco drama I adore so much... something somewhere in the space time continuum between ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme or Royksopp's What Else Is There . • It follows the recent release of Moscoman’s sophomore album Time Slips Away, a twelve-track LP that featured contributions from London-based duo Wooze, Tom Sanders of indie outfit Teleman and singer-songwriter Niki Kini amongst others. A full Time Slips Away remix package, with further reworks from the likes of Gerd Janson, Tunnelvisions and OMRI, is also set to come out later this month. • Hailing from the Black Forest region of Germany, Michael Mayer founded the influential Kompakt imprint with close friend and contemporary Wolfgang Voigt in 1998, also releasing a slew of albums and remixing tracks from the likes of Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and Miss Kittin. More recently he dropped four-track EP ‘Higher’ in April. • http://vevo.ly/immMwY
