Aired on Oct 19, 1962 • We are back in Chicago (probably shot in sequence to E3 also in Chicago, and aired out of sequence). While Tod works as a swim instructor, Buzz takes the 'Vette to start work in a warehouse building and immediately gets into a ruckus and another fistfight - on his 1st day, heck, first minute. This time though, it has a good reason. In keeping with the show's theme of doing the right thing, Buzz stands up to a mean-spirited jokester. And he is not satisfied to just fight the guy and shame him down, he goes all the way to fix a mess he inadvertently helped cause. I inherited you when i fixed that speaker, but i can't walk those stairs for you. The happy ending is predictable, although the director or writer, pulls a clever bait switch on us. • Locations: • 1-The O'Hare Inn is at the same place, Mannheim x Higgins Rds, by the airport, although rebuilt. • 2-The corner the 'Vette turns is Lake St x State St under the elevated L train station. The L began running in 1892 and is still in use. The Chicago Theater sign and the corner building, and of course, the L train station, are all still there. All the stores are different. I made a video of Buzz's probable route to work, here: • Video . • 3-Spartus was a camera manufacturer (Falcon brand). The warehouse access we see must be the rear shipping address, since the Spartus address was 711-715 W Lake. When Buzz sees the sign, he can't be on Lake St. because we don't see the L. So he must have been on a rear street that I believe is gone now, along with the whole bldg, to make way for Highway 94. Could've been W Halstead or W Walnut. • 4-Couldn't find the Park-Ridge Medical Center shown. • 5-The clerk's boarding house, I believe is at 413 S Prospect Av, Park Ridge, near their hotel. Much the same; the house next door as well. • 6-The Tribune Tower at 435 N Michigan Ave, completed in 1925, is a neo-Gothic design and at 36 stories still imposes on the city architecture. Interestingly, it has stones from all over the world. • 7-Chicago Grand Central Station (see S3 E3), from the inside. As I mentioned on S3 E3, it opened in 1890, closed in 1969, was demolished in 1971. • 8-The arranged pass-by meeting was at the Art Institute of Chicago, one of the oldest and largest art museums in the US. Located at Chicago's Grant Park, 109 S Michigan Ave, it is still the same, with the lion statues in good shape. Built for the World's Columbian Exposition, it opened in 1893. • 9-The boys chill out at Buckingham Fountain, one of the largest in the world opened in 1927. • 10-The answering-service house.
