First impressions after having the DF64 with SSP MP burrs on loan for about a week: • Shot Quality: overall, I like the espresso that these burrs/this grinder produces. It's a softer, more tea like body which is very nice for lighter coffees if that's your thing. It handles more developed roasts okay, but doesn't give the body/texture that you might expect. This is definitely not a setup for traditional spro. • Design: the grinder is pretty intuitive, and as a person who is 6' tall, I appreciate the dial facing upwards (compared to my baratza vario with front facing adjustment). It's honestly a pretty nice, compact grinder. Especially in all black, it doesn't feel imposing on my bench. • I really wish the dosing cup was metal (and perhaps with a black coating to match). Static is a constant issue, even with a mythos declumper mod and RDT. If this were my grinder, I would also install new upward facing forks to minimize mess from grinds flying everywhere. • Workflow: requires tinkering, potential upgrades, and a lot of patience to get dialed in. It may be down to QC, or just the design being about 90% of the way there. • Overall: If you're someone with a 3D printer (or have access to one) who enjoys modding, I think this might be a good option.
