Walking the West Highland Way in Scotland from Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy. This is Day 5 of my Scotland hiking trip and my shortest hiking day - only 7 miles. • I leave the By the Way Campsite in Tyndrum and walk to the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum for a full Scottish breakfast - my first of the trip. With such a short hike I have a leisurely morning. • The first part of the walk is along the road and railroad tracks, but still tucked in between the beautiful hills of the Scottish highlands. I try some water from a cool, clear highland stream. The trail is part of an old military road and is wide and flat with some rocky parts. • I reach the Bridge of Orchy train station which is where my bunkhouse is located - the West Highland Way Sleeper. See the Scottish Highlands and get a tour of the West Highland Way Sleeper at Bridge of Orchy. • I'm an American and a solo woman hiker who walked the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William. This is a beautiful trail, and safe to do for solo hikers. It was much more 'civilized' than I'm accustomed to on my hiking and backpacking trips! This was my first trip to Scotland. • Locations: Tyndrum, By the Way camping, Bridge of Orchy, West Highland Way Sleeper, Bridge of Orchy Train Station, Bridge of Orchy Hotel • Things you need: • Guidebook: https://amzn.to/3rBZCeo (The maps in the book are GREAT!) • Map: https://amzn.to/3MduTOe (The trail is well marked but a 'real' map is great for planning and checking distances) • ---------------------------------------------------------------------- • Buy me a coffee: https://ko-fi.com/someboldadventure • Subscribe: https://bit.ly/2T4KIMR • Website: http://someboldadventure.com • Instagram: / someboldadventure • Facebook: / someboldadventure • ----------------------------------------------------------------------
