I also wanted to make the torch rechargeable, as shelling out $$ for 6 D+cell Duracells is truly painful.The TLE+310M+EX is specified to work with 4+ to 6+ D+cell torches, which means the power supply is designed to handle input voltages of between 6V and 9V (1.5V per alkaline cell). I bought 6 D+cell NiMH rechargeables, which gives a battery voltage (at 1.2V per cell) of 7.2V + nicely in the middle of the TLE+310's operating range.Installation is pretty straightforward, although you'll want to heed the warning not to overtighten the TLE+310 as it can be really difficult to extract it again if you need to (eg to change the setting of the mode switch).Being an engineer, one thing that disappointed me a little is that the module isn't properly specified as a complete product in itself + the sales literature implies that it has a 1000+Lumen output; but on the actual packaging (which you don't get to see until you've bought), there is fine print to the effect of 1000 Lumens* (* LED manufacturer's rating) .It's much more difficult to make a torch that actually puts out 1000 Lumens than it is to pass the buck back to the LED manufacturer. So who knows what this torch actually puts out!That said, in use this thing is pretty amazing !The tiny 2+position mode switch on the side of the module lets you choose between always High mode, or a 3+level mode which toggles between Low, Medium and High settings every time the module is switched on.Read more ›. • • 1.
