EGO snow blowers have design flaws that cause catastrophic failure

24 two-stage has a cheap cotter pin where it needs a roll pin in the impeller shaft. • 21 single-stage w steel auger, bent auger 1st use out of the box. 21 Auger shaft is a poor design. I hit a block of ice, and it bent the auger shaft. Vibrates horribly. The auger shaft should not be the weak point. The belt should pop-off, or there should be pins on the auger shaft. Used for about 20minutes. $100 in parts, but a fairly simple repair. • I had a similar experience with the 24 two-stage snow blower as well. There is a cheap cotter pin holding the impeller to the impeller shaft. Most other major snow blower manufactures use a roll pin here. This one made it one season, and did OK. • The motor failure is a $300 part and requires complete dis-assembly of the machine. • Batteries and charger have not been an issue. Keep batteries stored indoors, and let the batteries sit not-charging when not in use. • I now have two non-working EGO snow blowers. They are under warranty. I purchased the blowers at a store less than a mile from my house. it is 70miles each way to the warranty center. I can drive the small unit in my car, but the 24 two-stage will not fit in my car, would have to pay a courier to deliver it. • Design flaws left me stranded and will have to pay for snow removal this year, 60-90 days out on warranty repair, if I can even get the units there. • 00:00 Intro • 2:40 Dog bone got stuck between impeller and chute, causing motor failure SNT2400. • 3:43 Free Spinning Motor SNT2400 • 5:50 Motor Grinding Gears SNT2400 • 8:02 Battery tips • 12:00 Auger Shaft Vibration 2110 • 13:24 More Shaft Vibration 2110 • 15:00 Chunk of ice that bent shaft 2110.
