In this video we will look at the equation for HF + H2O and write the products. • When we add HF to H2O the HF will dissociate and break into H+ and F-. Since the H+ (often called a “proton”) and the F- ions are dissolved in water we can call them H+ (aq) and F- (aq). The aq stands for aqueous – something that is dissolved in water. • HF is a weak acid so only some of the H atoms will dissociate.
