The FilmHarmonia Orchestra plays Music From Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber (arr. Calvin Custer). • The 1978 musical Evita follows the life of the woman who charmed a future President, as well as the people of Argentina. A teen-aged Eva Duarte left her rural hometown for the promise of a better life in Buenos Aires; hear the upbeat Latin rhythms in the first of this collection • of songs from the musical. • After establishing a career as an actress, Eva meets the politician Juan Perón and the two embark upon a relationship, played out in I’d Be Surprisingly Good For You. The next song, the soul-baring You Must Love Me, was written for the 1996 film adaptation. The piece closes with the emotional showstopper Don't Cry for Me Argentina. Not depicted in the musical is Eva Perón’s work as a union leader, and her vocal support for Argentinian women’s right to vote, which was won in 1947. • • https://filmharmonia.com/ • https://static1.squarespace.com/stati... • • • *Our Conductor - Joshua McNulty* • Joshua McNulty is a seasoned conductor, composer, and educator in the Australian music community.
