SUSCRIBITE NOW 👉 https://clar.in/3Hem3wN • What role do men play facing the progress of the feminist movement? Argentina has recently gone through some major events. The “Ni Una Menos” [“Not one (woman) less”] campaign, the debate in Congress regarding legalization of abortion, and the accusations of sexual abuse under the motto #MiráCómoNosPonemos. • These events have brought up the feeling that the traditional paradigm of masculinity has come to an end. A paradigm which is now seen as toxic, and that statistically produces one femicide every 30 hours. • “Los hombres no lloran” [Men don’t cry] explores the personal and collective quest of some men, who strive to find themselves in a world that raises them to be insensitive. • Many people think that the times strengthen the possibility of overcoming gender stereotypes. Facundo (27, electrician, from San Miguel) heard the call when his street band female colleagues were getting ready for the 8M Female Strike, and they needed someone to take care of their kids. • Abel (47, teacher, from Benavídez) has felt a little awkward ever since he discovered, at 13, that he wanted to become an actor, a profession that contradicts the image of provider socially favored as a man´s aspiration. • Juan Pablo (32, member of Mala Junta, Buenos Aires) began to move away from the predominant paradigm of masculinity when he came out of the closet and accepted the costs of losing his privileges. • Lucas (17, student, Buenos Aires) grew up in a time when public schools were shaken by “escraches (public shaming of public figures). Everybody agrees on the need to take this debate very seriously.
