Building the Hickory Self Bow

Building a hickory self bow is a great way to get into the world of bow building and primitive archery. Hickory is a great bow wood for beginners because it's easy to find, tough as nails, and you don't have to wait for it to dry before starting to work on the bow. In this video we'll be building a short flat bow in the paddle bow design. It will bend through the handle and draw 45lbs at 26 inches. Even if you never plan on bowhunting, knowing how to build a primitive bow is a valuable and fun survival skill.
