Quick and simple guide to remembering ship light combinations as per the IRPCS or COLREGS. • We present a simplified way of remembering the various lights that are shown by ships, boats and yachts to indicate to other vessels information about heading and vessel type. • A single red or green light will most likely be the sidelight - and in the simplest form this means that the vessel is underway and gives an indication of which side of the vessel you are looking at. • More red lights that you see, the more you should stay away • If in doubt, head for the dark parts of the horizon - if it I safe to do so! • Please watch our other videos to get more information and of course you are more than welcome to come and join one of our training courses.
