• Kóvne (Kaunas) [LT]: Yéte Gurvitsh (E... • The grand spirit of the true Litvak, and bona fide sound of interwar Kóvner Yídish (from a then-pupil of its secular Yiddish schools)... • Speaking several weeks after her 102nd (!) birthday, in Vilnius, Yéte Gurvitsh (Eta Gurvičiūtė), who was born in Kóvne (Kaunas) on 27 April 1920 touches on many topics. • She explains, speaking on 13 May 2022, with classic undaunted Litvak courage, why the 9th of May is so important for her, notwithstanding current trends and views. She reflects on the two years of pandemic since we had last met, and indeed on her own amazement at being herself at 102.
