Eatai Food is a platform to show and celebrate Zimbabwean flavour and common food techniques. • THIS IS AFRICAN FOOD - DERERE! • cooked okra · plum · dried salted okra • The Zimbabwean diet includes a lot of plant-based recipes. • Instagram: / eataifood • Derere (cooked okra) • 1/2 tsp of bicarbonate of soda • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 cup tomato, chopped • 1 and 1/2 cup Chopped okra • Water • 1. Put boiling water to fill up half of the small saucepan • 2. Allow the water to start boiling on the stove before adding the salt and bicarbonate of soda. • 3. Add the salt and bicarbonate of soda and the sliced okra shortly after. • 4. Stir to mix it all together and then leave to cook until it starts to bubble and boil. Allow to boil for 3 minutes before you start stirring • 5. Stir the okra with a wooden spoon vigorously as shown in the video. Do this for about 5-7 minutes • 6. After stirring add your chopped tomatoes and stir them in. • 7. Stir vigourously again to combine for about 2-3 minutes • 8. Extract any unnecessary foam just before finishing • 9.
