More Zambian Music! This obscure single is credited to Jechonia Mwale. Side A is rougher than Side B but both are worth a listen. Side A features a pop song featuring women singing opposite male singers (female singers uncommon in Zambian records of the era). Side B is a more standard 60's style pop song. There's some great musicianship on display on this record. • I haven't been able to track down any info about Jechonia Mwale. He has two known singles credited to him. The record label, Luangwa, was one belonging to Teal Records, the most prolific of the two major record companies in Zambia in the 70's. No Luangwa records have dates on them so it's hard to date this or any of the few records released on that label. It was not a very prolific label. My guess, based on Jechonial Mwale's second record, released on the Zambezi label, is that this record was released some time between 1976 and 1978. Based on the style of music that it would fit in the era. • If you know anything about Jechonia Mwale, please comment below. There is very little information available online about the more obscure Zambian artists from the 70's and 80's so your comments could help preserve his history. • 00:00 Anyina Tombi • 03:59 Kalata Yaku Mudzi • Luangwa (Teal Records) • LGA 07 • 1976/7/8? • https://www.discogs.com/release/13706... • DISCLAIMER: All music uploaded to this channel is shared with the intention of preserving rare out of print recordings and making them available to audiences who might otherwise never have an opportunity to experience the artists and their performances.
