Video #2 of 3 (March 30, 2022): • In which, I provide an interpretive presentation on the Marlberry (Ardisia escallonoides)! The tree/shrub is indeed a Florida Native Plant. When they are in bloom, they produce a large cluster of white flowers. • After pollination, the plant produces dark berries. They are edible, but they should be a last resort since the taste is undesirable. Their leaves are typically glossy and they have a Lance shape. The Seminole would use the plant to make arrows and even used the leaves to make a tobacco extender. • Typically, you will find them in hammock settings. They like to have moist soil but can tolerate drier soil if necessary. Thus, they are versatile when need be 🤙🏼 • http://www.wildsouthflorida.com/marlb...
