KitchenAid Refrigerator Light Repair DIY Save Money

Click MORE for links to Tools Gear! • About half the lights in our four year old KitchenAid built-in refrigerator went out. Call a KitchenAid service tech? Nope, let’s DIY it. • UPDATE: I filmed and published this video in August 2022. A few months later my neighbor across the street with the same fridge called KitchenAid to complain about yet another light out. They told him there was a new service bulletin / service campaign out on this issue and they would send a local company out to fix it. They replaced all twelve lights in his fridge. After that, we called KitchenAid and they approved ours also. On January 4, 2023, the local service tech arrived with twelve redesigned LED modules and replaced them all for us. It took him about 20 minutes. The new modules are nicer; they have three lighted LEDs inside each module rather than the previous single LED in the original modules. They're much brighter. Time will tell how long these last. If you're having this same issue, I recommend calling KitchenAid to see if your fridge is part of this effort before going DIY. If you do an internet search for Technical Service Pointer W11606409 it should come up and you can check to see if your model number is covered. I have no idea how long it will last, though.
