When you have no choice to buy a height adjustable desk or when you have a shallow depth desk you want to extend the space. Mostly, it is for ergonomic reasons in most cases but you might get it and adjust it to the same height just to extend the desktop. Or you could use this as a standing desk modification which is cheaper than buying a fully adjustable desk.
