West Leyden Waltz is one of my most favorite waltzes! It was written by Jimmy Nelson, and I think it's more commonly played in the New York state area. I really like how simple the melody is -- I think it is a good tune for beginner fiddlers to try to learn. Because it's based around a lot of arpeggios, you can add in lots of different harmonies to create variations it when it's repeated. :D • This was one of the first tunes I learned when I started to really get into the hobby of playing folk music when I was around 15 or so. It's a very simple tune to play, and it sounds really pretty! This tune made me start to realize that simpler music can be just as enjoyable to listen to as some of the more complicated classical music. I think that concept is sometimes forgotten in the classical music world. The most memorable songs are often those that are easiest to sing. • This was filmed at Washington Park in Denver. I didn't know there was this beautiful flower garden there until recently! The garden is taken care of very well, and it is a very nice place to visit. =) It was kind of hard to get three video clips without people walking on the path directly behind me, but after a few takes, I finally was able to film it! ^_^ • Thank you for watching!! =) • ~ Katy • ------------ • Software and equipment used: • Full list of all my basic violin equipment: • http://www.katyadelson.com/about/viol... • Violin gear: • Violin: 1899 Ernst Kreusler “Copy of Antonius Stradivarius” violin from Germany • Bow: CodaBow Luma • Strings: Evah Pirazzi Violin Strings (with a ball E) • Rosin: Salchow Rosin • Shoulder Rest: Bonmusica Shoulder Rest • Software used (for Macintosh): • Garageband for attempted sound mixing • Final Cut Pro for video editing • PicMonkey.com for the ending cards • Plugins for sound effects (I have A LOT to learn in this department!): • East West plugins – Goliath Virtual Instrument, Pianos Gold, Spaces • Camera: • Canon 70D + 18-135 mm kit lens • Microphone for audio recording: • Blue Woodpecker
