However, nitrogen is required in relatively small quantities, and physiological needs are easily satisfied. Excess quantities of it become nitrogenous wastes, and their removal is necessary. In aquaculture practices, accumulation of nitrogenous compounds is the second most important limiting factor after oxygen.
