🔴 ENG Muierilor cave, or Muierii cave, is near the town of Baia de Fier, • in the southern part of the Parâng mountains, in the valley of the Galbenu river, at an altitude of 700 meters. • The cave with a length of over 7 km has 4 galleries on two levels, the lower level being reservation. Approximately 550 meters from the upper gallery, however, are arranged for visiting. • The visitable part is electrified. It was the first electrified cave in Romania (1693-1678). • The Women's Cave stalagmites and stalactites can be seen with strange shapes, which is why they received names as: Santa Claus, The Altar, The Chandelier, The Wounded Sparrowhawk, The Odalisque, The Bustard, The Great Dome, etc. • Regarding the name of the cave: Muierilor or Muierii are based on two legends. • One of them says that in the past, • when the men were leaving to defend the land of invaders, • the women took the children and the elders to shelter in the cave. • Another legend says that the name of the cave comes from the fact that in the dry days of summer, the women were sitting at the southern exit of the cave, where the air blew from the inside, easing their work of twisting the thread.
