Sándor Petőfi: John the Valiant (János Vitéz) • • Epic poem • • Sándor Petőfi wrote this notable work consisting of 370 stanzas in six days and six nights in 1844 when he was lodging at his employer’s, Imre Vahot, editor of Pesti Divatlap, a weekly fashion magazine. It was published in this magazine on March 6, 1845. Petőfi was inspired by Homer's Odyssey. • Petőfi’s original work was shorter and entitled Johnny Corncob (Kukorica Jancsi). It ended with Johnny’s return home from the French Court. • • Encouraged by his friends and by popular demand, Petőfi extended it and changed the title to the one that is still known today, John the Valiant (János Vitéz). • • • • Credits: • • Music: • • Sunguard by Alexander Nakarada | • Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com • Creative Commons / Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) • https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... • • https://pixabay.com/hu/users/alex_kiz... • • • • Illustrations: • • Szendrei Tibor • http://www.szendreiart.com/en/about.php • • http://diafilm.osaarchivum.org/public... • • https://www.sutori.com/en/story/janos... • • • János Vitéz • Kukorica Jancsi • Hangoskönyv B1, B2 szint • Angol tanulás • Hungarian folk heroes • Hungarian folk legends • Petőfi Sándor
