(Lyrics are below) Slade are an English rock band formed in 1966, first starting out as 'The 'N Bewteens' then 'Ambrose Slade'. Their best times were during the glam rock era in the early 1970s. They achieved 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. All six of the band's chart-toppers were written by band members Noddy Holder (lead singer and rhythm guitar) and Jim Lea (bass guitar). Probably best known for their Christmas song, Merry Xmas Everybody , which has sold in excess of one million copies. • 'Everyday' nearly wasn't released as the band didn't think it would make a good 'single' because it was a piano-led ballad, which was an unusual style for the band.
