In order to do that, you need to make sure it’s both aligned and tensioned within the specifications in your manual. So we’re going to demonstrate first how to align the drive using this straight edge, and then second, how to make sure it’s tensioned properly using this belt tension gauge. • So Clint’s going to start on a fan sheave here, make sure that it’s aligned properly, and then he’s going to drop that side until it comes into contact with the motor sheave. He’s also going to go down and make sure that his motor sheave is aligned properly, and then he’s going to drop it and make sure it’s within tolerance as it crosses the fan sheave. And so that’s how we check to make sure that it’s aligned. • So you want to check your IOM manual and then use a belt tension gauge like this one. You can demonstrate how we check the deflection, and we’re going to make sure we have within the deflection the proper amount of pounds of tension coming off the belt. • So on this one, what did we get in pounds of resistance? We’ve got 13. So we’ve got 13 pounds of resistance. Let’s say this belt drive was supposed to be somewhere between 7 and 11 pounds of resistance. So we’re over-tensioned. If we have that case, we just take these motor bolts right here, we loosen them, and so that pulls the motor up towards the fan shaft, relieves some of the tension on these belts, and then we go through that process again of checking it with the belt tension gage. • If you’re on the other side of the spectrum (you need more tension), you just tighten these bolts down, pushes the motor away, and increase the tension on the belt. • And that’s how you set your belts. • VISIT OUR WEBSITE: https://airprofan.com/ • SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL: / @airprofan • SUBSCRIBE TO OUR EMAIL LIST: https://airprofan.com/subscribe-to-al... • LET’S CONNECT! • Email: [email protected] • LinkedIn: / airpro-fan-and-blower
