This type of pump often utilises multiple diffuser casings, but can also use multiple volute casings (less common). • Operation • The pumped fluid is drawn into the impeller eye of the first stage impeller, it is then discharged and fed to the next impeller eye, and the process is repeated until the fluid has passed through all impellers. Each impeller is referred to as a ‘stage’.
