Alpona is a painting or a sacred art done on holy and auspicious occasions in the east of India. Its traditionally done with paste of rice flour mixed with water and mixing a bit of Alta, to get the red colour. • It is similar to Rangoli, Kolam, Muggulu etc, as all these art forms are done on sacred and holy occasions with little variations in patterns and designs in different parts of India. • Today I have painted a simple and easy Alpona design on the occasion of Lakshmi puja. I have used poster colors.
