http://www.envirosponsible.com/tentst... Is galvanized duct pipe safe to use for wood stove chimney pipe, or is it deadly? Watch and find out! • I'm starting a project called How To Make A Tent Stove that will be a PDF with video chapters. It's going to outline the entire process in detail and I'm excited about it. The idea of the project is to make it easy to build one yourself with minimal tools and items that can be found everywhere for very little cost. • One of the biggest challenges of getting started for me was deciding what the stove pipe should be made from. • I made this video about the first woodstove I made    • Home Made Wood Stove - Urban Survival   • I received many comments about how burning the galvanized coating off the pipe was highly dangerous since the fumes could prove fatal. Because of those comments I ruled out using galvanized duct work for a chimney pipe. Which was a shame really, since they're so easy to find and are so inexpensive. • Either way, I had it in my mind that I wasn't going to use galvanized pipe. So I started looking online for 3 black stove pipe. It simply doesn't exist in big box stores, and I didn't want to order any online since that defeats the spirit of the project. • I simply wouldn't give up though, and found info about how to remove the galvanization using muriatic acid or vinegar. Both ideas were intriguing, but I still wasn't satisfied. Then I came across a post on a forum that was written by a chemist. • What the chemist had to say about burning galvanized coatings off metal was a mind blower! Watch this video to find out what I discovered...
