Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) (Family: Myristicaceae) produces two separate spices, namely nutmeg, and mace. Nutmeg is the dried kernel of the seed and mace is the dried aril surrounding it. Nutmeg is indigenous to Moluccas Islands (Indonesia). Over 50% of the world's export of nutmeg and mace is from Indonesia. Grenada is the second-largest exporter of nutmeg and mace in the world.
