The Norwegian town of Drøbak is located at the narrowest point of the Oslo Fjord, in the Drøbaksundet strait. • It used to be a city of ferry crossings across the fjord, and now a little to the north under the city an underwater tunnel has been built. But the ships of the boat still depart from Drøbak today for exciting boat trips along the Oslofjord. • And our walk around the city begins from the central harbor of the city, where a leisurely and very summery atmosphere reigns. The boats have already been launched and are swaying comfortably, waiting for the next boat trip. • The houses around the harbor are decorated with maritime symbols, as the city has a very close relationship with the sea. Drøbak used to be famous for being the traditional winter harbor of the capital of Norway, Oslo. Indeed, in severe winters, the fjord was shackled by ice from Oslo to Drebak. And from 1800 to 1985, a pilot station was located in the city, since the ships going to Oslo from this place already needed pilotage. • At the end of the breakwater is a replica of an old coal lighthouse. And at the beginning, a monument to three mermaids was presented to the city by Ingeborg Lane, the owner of the Norwegian doll factory located in Drøbak and a resident of the city! • Also next to the harbor is a brown building of atypical architecture, this is the research marine station of the University of Oslo (Universitetets Marinbiologisk Feltstasjon) which was founded here in 1894. • We believe that an obligatory place to visit in the city of Drøbak is the aquarium. It is also located near the central harbor of the city. Here you can admire the marine life around the coast of Norway and the Oslofjord. • We have been to many aquariums, but we were the first to meet the fish of the Lumpagor species, it is also called the Sparrow Fish and this species of fish lives in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the seas of the Arctic Ocean. She surprised us with the fact that she has a sucker on her stomach and dense skin instead of scales, and we also learned that Pinagoras do not have a swim bladder. • Even in the Drøbak aquarium lives a cute, but very predatory Hugo - Striped catfish. He is very fond of sea urchins for lunch and swims out of his hiding place to feast on them, it looks very spectacular! • And also, this is a rare aquarium where you can touch the underwater world not only figuratively, but also physically! Touching starfish, urchins, and hermit crab! • Leaving the aquarium, we continued our walk through the picturesque park along the coast, here is the Drøbak Church, the city beach, and the promenade to the ferry crossing to the island, where the Oscarsborg fortress is located. • The fortress is located on two islands. The first defensive structures to protect Oslo were erected here in 1644. But the fortress gained wide popularity due to the fact that on April 9, 1940, the German heavy cruiser Blücher was sunk from it. Now there is a museum here and it is a good place for a walk. • Drøbak city center has cute cafes, fountains, and shops. But there is something very unusual here! Walking around the city you will notice road signs with a Christmas gnome - Julenisse. And next to the main square of the city is the Christmas House (Tregaardens Julehus). This is not only a year-round Christmas decoration shop, but also a Santa Claus post office. After all, all mail addressed to Santa Claus in Norway ends up here. You can also send a letter from here with the official Posten stamp in the form of Santa Claus. • In general, around the city of Drøbak, there is everything you need for a holiday for every taste, wide golf courses, secluded and at the same time well-equipped sandy beaches, as well as rocky shores from which you can admire the wonderful panorama of the Oslofjord! • After a day spent in the city, I would like to say that Drøbak is a real hidden gem of the Oslofjord, a peaceful and unhurried mood reigns here, and white well-groomed houses with bright flowers in the yards perfectly immerse you in the feeling of a fairy tale. • And with this video, we invite you to spend one summer day in Drøbak with us. And also admire the views of this wonderful seaside town from a bird's eye view! • We really hope you enjoy the video! We tried our best!
