The skin specimen obtained in Part 1 ( • Mohs Surgery: Part 1 | Auburn Medical... ) is taken prepared for microscopy in the lab and evaluated for the presence of cancer cells at the deep or peripheral margins of the sample. The tissue is marked for orientation, frozen in media, sectioned, stained, and examined under the microscope.
