4-7-8 Breathing, a short breathing exercise to help ease anxiety, aid calm, and relieve insomnia. • What follows is a breathing exercise created by the Harvard trained Dr Andrew Weill. • Described as a 'natural tranquiliser for the nervous system' the exercise is claimed to quickly reduce tension and encourage relaxation. • The 4-7-8 Technique: rest the tip of your tongue against the roof of your mouth behind your upper front teeth. • Breathe in for a count of 4. • Hold your breath for a count of 7. • Breathe out forcefully for a count of 8. • Do this 4 times. • Do this exercise 2 times each day, and when feeling anxious or needing to relax.
