Animal hides can be turned into leather. The video shows the processes by which this is achieved and also demonstrates the use of leather in producing shoes, sandals and leather masks. The work is usually done by men and requires tools to cut leather. It should be noted that the activities shown presuppose good understanding and knowledge of the work as well as good skills in working with leather. • • This short film is part of the skills development campaign Learning and Working developed by UNESCO-UNEVOC. • • It contains a set of video and print materials that showcase some practical examples of different activities persons can undertake in an informal setting in order to take up sustainable livelihoods, using simple and easily accessible materials and tools. • • The films are accompanied by corresponding booklets.
