Amidah in Synagogue • The Amidah (Hebrew: תפילת העמידה, Tefilat HaAmidah, The Standing Prayer ), also called the Shemoneh Esreh (שמנה עשרה 'eighteen'), is the central prayer of the Jewish liturgy. This prayer, among others, is found in the siddur, the traditional Jewish prayer book.
