In this tutorial, you will learn How to Record a Voice-Over in Audacity which is a free open source audio recorder and editor. I’ve been using Audacity for a few years now and I mainly use it for editing my audio, but do sometimes use it to record voice-over. • Recording a voice-over in Audacity is fairly simple and straight forward. In the Transport Toolbar, you will find various buttons like the Play, Record, Pause, Stop, Forward and Rewind. To start recording your voice-over, you make sure you connect your mic or headset and set it as your default in Audacity. • Once you do so, just click the Record button and start speaking. Audacity will record your voice until you click the Stop button. You will see the voice-over audio track in waveform. Whenever I record a voice-over, I always leave around 5 seconds of silence at the end of the audio. This helps create a noise profile which helps in removing background noise. • You can then save the project file as well as export an MP3 audio. You will need to install the LAME MP3 Encoder in order to export your audio as an MP3. Once I record a voice-over, I almost always enhance the audio quality by using several Audio Effects in Audacity. • One of the audio effects that I use is the Noise Reduction effect in order to remove background noise from the audio like a hiss or a hum. I’ve created a separate tutorial on How to Improve Audio Quality. I’ve also created several other Audacity tutorials on my YouTube channel and you will find a link below to the playlist. • Download Audacity at: http://www.audacityteam.org/ • Audacity Review Tutorials: http://bit.ly/Audacity-Review-Tutorials • Audacity Audio Effect Definitions: https://url.lv/AudacityAudioEffects • CREDITS: Audacity® is a registered trademark of Dominic Mazzoni | Audacity Logo Screenshots Used Under Creative Commons CC Attribution 3.0 Unported License | Microsoft, Windows, and the Windows logo are trademarks, or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.
