Pascuala Ilabaca is a singer-songwriter and accordionist from Valparaíso, Chile. Pascuala is known for powerful live shows and for having one of the most empowered voices in new Chilean music. • Pascuala's music is inspired by Latin American roots music, exudes a joyful complexity, and mixes carnival with politics in an expression defined by fragility and determination. Her most recent effort provides a feminist viewpoint to Latin American roots music. • Ilabaca and her band, Fauna, have founded a professional cooperative dedicated not only to performing music but also to youth development with a focus on promoting roots music within public schools. They have completed 22 tours of Latin America, the United States and Europe, and they’ve won important awards in Chile (Pulsar), the UK (Top of the World, Songlines Magazine), and the USA (Independent Music Awards, NY). • She joins Darek for a chat about music, her hopes for Chile and her upcoming North American Tour which lands in Seattle on June 30, and Vashon Island on July 1. • Follow Pascuala Ilabaca below: • ⇢ Facebook: / pascualailabaca • ⇢ Instagram: pascuala _ilabaca_y_fauna • ⇢ YouTube: Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna Oficial • ⇢ Spotify: Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna • ⇢ Website: https://pascualailabacayfauna.com • About SAMA: • Seattle Sacred Music Art (SAMA) curates, produces, and collaborates on an immersive series of music and art performances that share the healing power of global sacred music.
