AY GUYS!!!!! I am so pumped to show you guys this remaster today 😈 • I bring you… PUMP WORKS FROM BOWSERS INSIDE STORY!!!! It’s been 4 years since I uploaded my first Pump Works Remaster, which I will link later in the description if you want to take a listen! But wow I have been working on this remaster for SO LONG. I have demos of this remaster going back to 2022. I restarted it multiple times because I took directions that I didn’t feel were really giving the same vibe as the original… in one of the demos I even went for a more dark/scary vibe??? All I did was change the chord progression a bit and it worked well but again, didn’t fit. Overall I spent 48 hours on this project file in particular, but all together, oh gosh, probably somewhere around 100 hours. • I had a ton of fun messing around with this one. I tried to go for an 80s aesthetic in some areas because the original Pump Works uses TR-909 drum samples. So using more 80s inspired synths and samples felt right to me 😎. Adding little melody’s here and there was probably the most fun part because it let me add some more groove and rhythm to certain sections. Towards the end of the song you may hear these synth brass staccatos, those had me hooked. I wanted to make them pop more without taking over the mix so they’re kind of in the background with a very stereo mix, listen closely and you’ll probably hear them 🤭 • As for the art section of this video! WOW this art was tough. I don’t draw alot of Mario and Luigi so making them look as close to the source material as I could was pretttyyyyyy tough! I changed Mario’s pose a couple times during the sketching process, but Luigi’s stayed the same haha. I tried to add more dynamics and characters to this piece because Pump Works is such a special area and it’s so full of life and personality on its own.
