Every strum pattern you'll encounter will usually be eight note strum patterns or sixteenth note strum patterns. For example, if you have 4 beats, you'll fit 8 strums into those beats, which makes them eighth note strum patterns. And if you want to play sixteenth note strums, you'll have to fit 16 strums into 4 beats, essentially doubling the amount of strums from the eighth note pattern.
