She studied piano with Anne Mennet, Helena Costa and Pedro Burmester at the Conservatório de Música and Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE) in her hometown. • In 1997 she became a pupil of Vitalij Margulis in Los Angeles, with whom she studied intensively for three years. She went on to study at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London with Irina Zaritskaya, obtaining her Master of Music in 2002. She was later awarded the Diplôme Supérieur d’Éxécution at the École Normale de Musique in Paris, where she was a student of Marian Rybicki. • Tender regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician, and her repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary. Her first release, Bach and Forward, recorded at the RCM studios, was reviewed as a top release of the month in Classical Music magazine in 2009. Tender’s second recording, Página Esquecida, was internationally praised, garnering critical acclaim in publications such as Fanfare magazine, Strings magazine, and das Orchester, among others. She recently recorded the complete piano sonatas by João Domingos Bomtempo for Naxos/ Grand Piano, which earned her several international reviews and the November 2019 cover of Revista Ritmo in Spain. • Luísa Tender is a professor of piano at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) in Castelo Branco, Portugal, and taught piano at ESMAE from 2001 to 2003. During her studies she was the recipient of a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and a study support grant from the RCM. She is currently a researcher at the Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical (CESEM) within the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Tender is the co-author (with Manuel Pedro Ferreira) of the book «O Pescador de sons», a short volume devoted to piano performance which has been published by CESEM in 2019. She is the president of the general assembly of EPTA-Portugal (European Piano Teachers Association). Some of her former students are active pianists and piano teachers across Europe and the US.
